THE POSSIBILITIES AND PROSPECTS OF CONVERTING EXISTING AC POWER SUPPLY NETWORKS TO DC
Agricultural production technologies are constantly growing, modernizing and developing. This is the reason for the increase in the number of electrical devices in operation, which leads to an increase in demand for electricity and, as a result, the need to transmit higher capacities. The article assumes that a DC power supply system will solve this problem, and considers the possibilities of using existing AC power supply networks to operate them on DC. The methodological basis of the study is an analytical method for identifying significant positive and negative aspects of the transition to DC power supply. Using mathematical calculations, options for using DC in existing AC cable networks are optimized. It is found that an increase in DC voltage using a bipolar system is the optimal option for DC power supply, taking into account the amount of transmitted power. The structure of the AC distribution network is studied. Configurations are proposed for transmitting DC in existing AC cables for both threecore and four-core cables. The infrastructure changes necessary for the implementation of the DC power supply system are determined. Variants of transition from the AC power supply system to the DC system with minimal costs and technical changes are formulated. Optimal variants for the full-scale implementation of this system into operation are proposed.
