Improving the accuracy of reproduction of a given shape of piston rings by taking into account the kinematic features of the copying unit of the HCFX-2 machine

Currently, the Russian Federation has a situation of dependence of the piston engine industry on foreign manufacturers and technologies. The closure of a number of enterprises that produced piston rings, as well as the dependence of imported blanks and copiers, led to interruptions in the production of internal combustion engines of various designation. To date, all competencies for both the manufacture of piston rings and the manufacture of means of production for their release in our country are considered lost by the authors, and their early restoration is an urgent task that requires prompt solutions. As a result, a problematic situation has developed in the Russian Federation, consisting in a contradiction between the need of domestic engineering for high-quality piston rings, on the one part, and the lack of a domestic manufacturer independent of imports, on the other part. It is noted that currently machines for the production of piston rings are not available in the Russian Federation. In this regard, PPK LLC had to purchase HCFX-2 turning and milling machines manufactured by Yuhuan CNC Machine Tool Co., LTD (China) for forming piston rings. But, as studies of the kinematics of the machine components providing copier processing have shown, there are a number of inaccuracies in the kinematic chain, leading to a certain error in the resulting surface profile of the piston rings. The authors have refined the methodology for calculating the profile of reference copiers. As a result, the authors built and implemented in the form of a program in C++ an algorithm for calculating the profile of a copier (cam) for the HCFX-2 turning and milling machine. The analysis of the calculation results confirmed their absolute reliability. The authors believe that this algorithm can be recommended for widespread use.
