Intensification of heat exchange in drying agent supply channels
Nowadays there is a wide range of grain dryers differing in design and performance. As energy resources are becoming more and more expensive, improving the energy efficiency of grain dryers is an urgent task. Modernising the design of dryers can improve their energy efficiency. To solve this problem, it is necessary to redesign the ducts to reduce heat loss and improve energy efficiency. However, feeding the drying agent through smooth channels leads to significant heat losses, which reduces efficiency. The longer the feed channel, the greater the heat loss, resulting in inadequate grain drying temperature, longer drying time and higher energy consumption. It is possible to reduce the temperature difference between the inlet and outlet of the feed channel by intensifying the process through the use of turbuliser protrusions. The optimum aperture height and spacing for turbulent flow should be selected depending on the circumstances.
