Effectiveness of the “Flavobetin” for the prevention of the labor and postpartum period pathologies in cattle

The article presents the results of the study of the effectiveness of the “Flavobetin” for the prevention of the labor and postpartum period pathologies in cattle under heat stress. Heat stress in cattle was determined based on calculated indicators of the temperature-humidity index, taking into account the average daily temperature and humidity of the environment. Clinical trials of “Flavobetin” were carried out in the hottest months of 2023 - July (with THI = 72.5) and August (with TVI = 74.5). For the experiment, 4 groups of Holstein heifers of 10 heads each were formed; the animals in the experimental groups were given “Flavobetin” daily orally at a dose of 50 grams per head: in the first group, 60 days before the expected calving; in the second - 45 days before the expected calving and in the third - 30 days before the expected calving. The fourth group was the control group and was on a standard late dry diet. As a result of the studies, it was determined that on the background of the heat stress, course use of the drug “Flavobetin” to heifers during the dry period leads to a decrease in the severity of endogenous intoxication in the animals’ body and a decrease in the labor and postpartum period pathologies.
