Polymorphism of FASN and DGAT1 genes in beef cattle and their relationship with phenotype parameters
. The primary goal of breeders and scientists is to produce cattle with a superior “beef phenotype” whose meat is characterized by quality traits, including tenderness and marbling, that are related to the intramuscular fat content of beef, which emphasizes the importance of studying genes and their polymorphisms associated with beef performance. It was found that animal carriers of AG and GG genotypes in the polymorphism g.17924A>G (rs41255693) of the FASN gene had the highest live weight at the age of 8 months, which is 7,8 and 11,9% more than individuals of the AA genotype, however, carriers of this genotype had higher height in the sacrum and sciatic mounds. Gobies carrying the homozygous TT genotype of polymorphism c.1416 T > G (rs135329220) in the DGAT1 gene had a high live weight among all studied individuals for this gene. The results of the association of the identified polymorphisms of the DGAT1 gene with the height in the sacrum and sciatic mounds are not homogeneous enough, however, they well reflect the phenotype of the Kalmyk breed, but require further study.
