Study on Optimization of Heating Coil Pipeline Submerged-arc Joint Welding Process Variables
Heating coil pipelines involve a series of dangerous tasks requiring assembling, welding, and installing tens or hundreds of tons of pipes, whereby welders working in various types of confined and high-altitude spaces are exposed to safety accidents. In particular, the pipeline welding process is performed in a narrow space where only one worker can enter; hence, even experienced welders face numerous problems, such as structural defects (cracks, pores.). Therefore, this study aimed to optimize the welding process variables to satisfy the flange weld standards of AWS D1.1/D1 to improve the productivity of the pipe-flange process of heating coil pipelines. In the heating coil pipe joint welding process, which involves 95% of small-diameter welding, on-site time and costs can be saved through welding that ensures strength and structural safety.
