Modeling of Hardening Behavior for Titanium Alloy Sheet Considering Strain Rate and Temperature
This paper discusses the modeling of hardening behavior for a representative titanium alloy sheet, Ti-6Al-4V (1 mm thick), considering the strain rate and temperature. To evaluate the material properties of Ti-6Al-4V, uniaxial tensile tests were performed along the rolling direction. The strain rate was set to 0.001 and 0.1/s, and the temperature was set to 25 ℃, 600 ℃, 900 ℃, and 1200 ℃. The material properties of Ti-6Al-4V were significantly different, depending on the strain rate and temperature. Several hardening laws were examined to select the best fitting model. The parameters of the selected model were then modeled as function of the temperature for each strain rate. A comparison of the predicted results from the model and the experimental data confirms that the hardening behavior is simulated by the model with high accuracy.
