The article proposes a typology of accentuation signals based on their distribution by semantic zones. The pragmatic potential of accentuation markers is also considered. Their main communicative function is to influence the recipient’s focus of attention, stimulating his interest in what is being communicated. The significant concentration of accentuation markers in the author’s speech indicates his intention to optimize speech interaction with the recipient. The scientific novelty of the study lies in comparing the degree of accentuation of the author’s speech behavior in the genres of memoirs and interviews. As a result of the analysis of the English-speaking author’s speech, it was found that the activity of the writer’s actualization of speech accentuation markers in memoirs and interviews is different, due to the difference in aspects of the situation of speech interaction. Such situational nuances include the presence of different types of addressees, the author’s different status in these situations, and the author’s different pragmatic expectations regarding the addressee’s reaction to what is being reported.

Abstract

The purpose of the study is to identify the difference in the speech behavior of an English-speaking author in the genres of memoirs and interviews, taking into account the activity of updating accentuation markers by him.
