The transformation of identity among ethnic and confessional groups in post-soviet Russia on the example of the Kryashens and Nagaibaks
The study of the ethnocultural diversity of local communities, its features in different periods of history is of great scientific and practical importance. In this aspect, the Volga-Ural region is of great interest — a territory with a complex ethnic and confessional composition of the population. The article reveals the peculiarities of accounting for the ethnic composition of the population in Soviet population censuses, as well as in post–Soviet Russia, using the example of two ethno-confessional groups — Kryashen and Nagaibaks. A brief overview of the history of the emergence of these ethno-confessional groups, the reasons for the revival of their social movements in modern Russia, ethnocultural markers and other factors influencing them, as well as the dynamics of the number of these groups in the Soviet and post-Soviet periods is shown.
