A Study of Confucius’s Views on the Role of Art through Poetry : Focused on the 'Excitement', 'Observation', 'Group', and 'Resentment'
The purpose of this paper is that the theory of the role of art through Confucius' poetry resolves social conflict and guides the direction of smooth development of social psychology. By analyzing Confucius' classification of the functions of poetry into 'excitement', 'observation', 'group', and 'resentment', we understand them comprehensively and reveal Confucius' view of art. Confucius classified the functions of poetry into 'excitement', 'observation', 'group', and 'resentment' and accepted art as an expression of the moral spirit and psychological state of the people of an era, and considered the relationship between art, social spirit, and psychology. He expressed his view of focusing on key relationships. By emphasizing the responsiveness of art to an individual's psychology, the essence of art was identified as awakening and enhancing an individual's social sentiments. However, the inability to compare or examine the status of research by era due to a lack of historical materials can be pointed out as a limitation of this paper. Follow-up research on this to explore the role that art can contribute can contribute to the development of art.
