Review of the monograph “Crosscultural Neology” by E.V. Senko (Vladikavkaz: Khetagurov North Ossetian State University, 2023)
The monograph explores the set of foreign-language vocabulary innovations that have expanded the Russian language. The translation of innovations from one language to another is studied, as a rule, extralinguistically, since each word of the source language reflects values different from the target language, which are associated with the peculiarities of the ethnic mentality. Going beyond the traditional approach to the study of the borrowing process and taking into account modern intercultural communication trends, the author analyzes not only the systemic and structural side of the borrowing process, but also takes into account the cultural environment of language existence. Thus, the consideration of issues of cross-cultural neology is carried out on the basis of complex methods of linguistic analysis.
