ANALYTICAL STUDY OF A SYMMETRIC SIX STORIED BUILDING UNDER VARIOUS SEISMICITY ZONES WITH VARYING SUBSOIL STRATUM OCCURRENCE

Seismic analysis of reinforced concrete multi-storied buildings is decisive to ensure their structural integrity and safety during earthquakes. This study focuses on the seismic analysis of a reinforced concrete multi-storied building using the Indian Standard Code of Practice, specifically IS 1893 (Part 1):2016, which provides guidelines for earthquake-resistant design. The equivalent static load method, a simplified procedure for seismic analysis, is employed to determine the lateral forces acting on the structure due to seismic activity.Using structural analysis software, the building model is created with material properties, dimensions, and load conditions. The building s analysed for the seismic zones and various subsoil conditions. The results of the analysis include displacement, and story drift, which are evaluated to ensure compliance with the code's safety criteria. This method, while less complex than dynamic analysis, provides a practical approach for preliminary seismic design of buildings, ensuring adequate resistance to seismic forces in regions with varying seismicity levels.
