Traditional religious component in the life of society of the Republic of Moldova: correlation of progressive social development
This article draws attention to the restraining nature of the traditional religious component in Moldovan society in relation to the progressive development of society. In this case, the most important prospects for the progressive development of Moldova are determined in the chosen course for integration into the European Union. Without denying the positive influence of tradition and religion in the life of society, the author emphasizes aspects that inhibit innovation, progressive social practices and, ultimately, the integration of Moldova into the EU. The author’s recommendations concern expanding the propaganda of European values among the country’s citizens, not on the terms of competition with traditional religious ones, but on the terms of fruitful coexistence. The process of mastering European values, as a process of preparation for joining the European Union, will have to go through both the political elite and all citizens of Moldova.
