Improving control systems for a baby diaper converting machine: a multi-agent heterarchical approach
Industrial organizations have been enhancing their processes through digital transformation by identifying and solving existing problems. Addressing this opportunity, this paper proposes a novel approach to characterize the diaper-converting machine as an intelligent resource within the context of Industry 4.0., using an architecture based on Fuzzy Logic control and a multiagent system. This feature enables the control system to perform various activities collaboratively and precisely optimizing the use of raw materials and improving the Overall Equipment Effectiveness. The proposed solution of this paper offers a pathway for the baby diaper industry to transition from traditional Industry 3.0 to Industry 4.0 through digital transformation. Coloured Petri Net tools are used to simulate and validate the operation of the baby diaper production system.
