An AI-Based Sentiment Analysis Study on YouTube Contents Related to Digital Nomadism

In addition to traditional nomadism, digital nomadism refers to individuals who adopt location-independent work with opportunities provided by the internet and mobile technologies. Digital nomads seek others like themselves to determine their following location, often communicating or sharing experiences through social media. This study analyzes positive and negative trends in YouTube videos on “Digital Nomadism” through text analysis. Videos were categorized as positive or negative using researcher-determined phrases, resulting in 60 videos. After pre-processing, audio transcripts were converted to text and analyzed using Python’s NLTK libraries. Thematic topic inference was made using ChatGPT's NLP feature. The audience impact scores of positive and negative topics were calculated based on word frequencies. The analysis revealed that videos with titles like "freedom-flexibility-independence, travel advantage, adventure-discovery-new experiences" were described positively, and "financial difficulties, loneliness-social isolation, financial variability" negatively, had the highest audience impact. In conclusion, our suggestions on digital nomadism, which has the potential for regional development and tourism income, are presented.
