Proceso de construcción de dominios académicos en una institución de educación superior: Propuesta metodológica

The research analyzes the process of building academic domains at the Catholic University of Cuenca, focusing on strategic planning and articulating the substantive functions of teaching, research, and linkage with society. The problem arises from a lack of a methodological model that defines academic domains aligned with institutional capacities and current socio-educational demands. The main objective was to implement a methodology based on an algorithm, identifying patterns and relationships between key variables, teacher training, research results, physical-technological infrastructure, and academic offerings to strengthen institutional capacities. The method is based on synthetic analytics, starting from an analysis focused on reviewing data to find patterns and relationships between variables. This approach allows the identification of underlying causes that are not evident, facilitating informed decision-making. The data were organized in a matrix fashion, and set intersection operations were applied to the Venn diagram representations. The results show that 60% of the teachers have PhDs, and the remaining 40% have master's degrees and relevant experience. The need for new certification programs, greater external collaboration in research, and the acquisition of specialized laboratory equipment was identified. The strength of the evaluated area reached an index of 80%. In conclusion, the academic domains constitute a structured framework that facilitates institutional planning and strengthens educational quality, integrating teacher training, research, and infrastructure in response to social and academic demands
