Hybrid Polymer-Based Integrated Beam Splitter for Optical Interconnects

In this study, we propose a hybrid polymer-based phase-tunable beam splitter designed to offer dynamic control over on-chip light distribution. Utilizing the transfer matrix method on this material combination, we optimize the device to accommodate changes in light phase ranging from -90° to +90° degrees. By introducing signals with varying phases at the input ports, we demonstrate the device's ability to dynamically adjust the splitting ratio, covering all possible ratios with minimal loss. With high tolerance, the device exhibits minimal insertion loss of 0.03 dB, bending loss of 0.007 dB, crosstalk of -27.5 dB, and coupling loss of 0.007 dB, making it suitable for demanding applications where signal fidelity is paramount.
