A Recuced Switch Z-Armed Multi Level Inverter for Grid Connected PV System
The Z-arm multilevel inverter topology is characterized by its cascaded structure, which consists of multiple H-bridge or half-bridge cells connected in series. Each cell employs a separate DC source, typically capacitors or batteries, allowing for precise voltage control and scalability to higher voltage levels. The arrangement of the cells in a Z-shaped configuration enables a modular and compact design, facilitating easy integration into various power electronic systems. The main objective of Z-arm multilevel inverters is their ability to generate high-quality output waveforms with reduced harmonic content. This is achieved through the utilization of multiple voltage levels, which provide finer voltage resolution and smoother transitions between voltage steps. A selective harmonic elimination (SHE) have been developed to enhance the performance of Z-arm multilevel inverters. Further the proposed inverter is tested on 2.5kW grid connected PV system to validate its performance according the THD standards of IEEE519.
