THD Reduction in Switched Diode Multilevel Inverter Using Improved Grey Wolf Optimizer
This paper investigates the optimization of Switched Diode Multilevel Inverters (SMLIs) for Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) reduction using various optimization algorithms: Flower Pollination Algorithm (FPA), Grey Wolf Optimizer (GWO), and Improved Grey Wolf Optimizer (IGWO). Results show that IGWO outperforms both FPA and GWO, achieving the lowest THD levels across different modulation indices. The minimum THD found by IGWO is <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$0.90 \%$</tex>. FPA exhibits higher THD values, especially at higher modulation indices, while GWO shows intermediate performance. THD analysis reveals the sensitivity of harmonic distortion to modulation index changes. The study highlights the significance of optimization algorithms in multilevel inverter design for efficient power conversion. IGWO proves effective in reducing harmonic distortion, ensuring compliance with quality standards, and enhancing overall SMLI performance. This research contributes to advancing multilevel inverter technology and provides valuable insights into optimizing SMLIs for improved efficiency.
