Казаки-буддисты Бурятии: особенности исторической памяти
The article deals with the history of the Buryat Cossacks and the historical memory of them in modern Buryatia. The author shows that the events of the Civil War and the policy of the Soviet government towards the Cossacks led to the loss of much historical information about the Buryat Cossacks. In this regard, their modern descendants, trying to revive and strengthen their ethno-confessional identity, due to the lack of accurate information, are forced to create their own narratives about the heroic deeds of their ancestors. The basis for their creation are the few surviving family legends, as well as information from research and popular literature.
