Consideration the Functioning of Gaming Disorder Scale Using Item Response Theory
This study examined the functioning of three gaming disorder scales—GAS, IGDT-10, and GAMES test—using the IRT method. Participants included 181 men and 191 women (Mage=30.82). The correlations between the scale score and CFA of the three scales’ items endorsed unidimensionality. The IRT analysis demonstrated that all scales had high accuracy under relatively high problematic gaming tendency (approximately 0–2 standard deviations). However, the similar difficulty between the items also suggests that these scales are inappropriate for analog research.
