An Analysis of Recent Global Developments in the International Order (2001–2024)

Following the dissolution of the Soviet Union, the United States emerged as the sole hegemonic power on a global stage, establishing a new world order to consolidate its dominance. However, since the beginning of the 21st century, certain regional actors have expressed dissatisfaction with the unilateralism and hegemony of the United States, seeking alternatives to unipolarity and endeavoring to shape a new order that aligns with their interests. This study aims to analyze the emerging new order shaped by the increasing presence of regional actors. The primary research question is: What significant global developments from 2001 to 2024 have led to the transformation of international order? The author hypothesizes that the dynamism of international events coupled with the strategic actions of major powers necessitates a redefinition of the established order in response to these global shifts. To address this question and examine the hypothesis, this study employs an analytical-explanatory approach, drawing on library resources, scholarly articles, and research journals. The findings indicate that major powers seek to reclaim their pivotal roles in the new global order. Additionally, crises such as the Ukraine war, tensions over Taiwan, and Middle Eastern conflicts signify the decline of the old order and the emergence of a redefined system characterized by new actors and demands.
