A rich activity on functions using GeoGebra

Working on mathematics taking into account the processes, and not only the contents, requires giving greater presence in course planning to certain activities that allow for conversations in which students can explore the contents at different levels. These activities should provide students with the possibility to work at a low-ground level, while more advanced students should feel encouraged to explore contents with as much depth as they can (high ceiling). During this communication, we will discuss an example of a rich activity focusing on a task where students explain similarities and differences between two mathematical elements (specifically, two second-degree functions). This activity is carried out using a digital tool, GeoGebra, creating a participatory work environment where, through different kinds of tasks, different mathematical processes are activated, such as communication, argumentation and connection between different areas of mathematics. We also show that classroom management is key to facilitating a progressive learning process.
