Challenges of sustainable development in Georgian cities (case of Kutaisi)
Solving the sustainable development goals at the national level and achieving the final positive effects are closely related to the performance of a number of tasks at the local level. This is provided for in the national documents of sustainable development goals. When preparing various strategic and programmatic documents, developing action plans, concepts and priorities, the municipality should ensure the integration of sustainable development goals. Experience has shown us that it is necessary to raise awareness about the UN Sustainable Development Agenda, to be maximally aware of the mechanisms of implementation, monitoring and reporting of its goals at the local level. It is desirable to activate the involvement of local self-government representatives in the SDG National Council (making decisions and real participation in working groups). In the process of budget planning and the development of individual programs, it is necessary to take into account all the indicators that measure the achievement of the SDGs. To achieve the goal, the implementation process needs appropriate financial resources, which the municipality should take into account when drawing up the budget.
