Factors Related to Musculoskeletal Disorder Prevention Behavior among Hotel Kitchen Workers: Applying the Theory of Planned Behavior
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to identify factors related to musculoskeletal disorder prevention behavior among hotel kitchen workers by applying the theory of planned behavior. Methods: The participants comprised 150 kitchen workers of three five-star hotels located in Seoul. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 29.0 for descriptive statistics, t-tests, ANOVA, Pearson’s correlation coefficient, and hierarchical multiple regression analysis. Results: Perceived behavioral control (p=.047) and intention (p=.008) were found to be significantly related to musculoskeletal disorder prevention behavior. The explanatory power was 53.7% (F=9.01, p <.001). Conclusion: The results of this study showed that factors related to musculoskeletal disorder prevention behavior among hotel kitchen workers were perceived behavioral control and intention. Therefore, programs that enhance perceived behavioral control and intention are needed to improve the musculoskeletal disease prevention behavior of hotel kitchen workers.
