Research on gender equality in sports events
The Chinese women's national football team has achieved remarkable achievements since its first participation in the Asian Cup in 1986, including seven consecutive championships, which have positively enhanced the country's self-confidence and welcomed the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. However, these achievements stand in stark contrast to the high level of human trafficking in Chinese society, where the majority of victims are women and children, highlighting the contradiction between the honour that women receive in sports and the discrimination they suffer in society. This paper explores the dual role of sport as a symbol of women's independence and social identity, the symbolic significance of sport as a cultural phenomenon, and how sport reflects and reinforces social hierarchy and class differences. At the same time, this paper points out the role of sporting events in power relations and how sports can be used to create and maintain a false class consciousness of social elites. Finally, the article highlights the importance of feminism in sports, calling on women to strive for equal participation in sports and continue to fight for gender equality and their rights in the broader social context.
