Research on the Influence of the “New Income Standards” on the Quality of Accounting Information —— Empirical Analysis Based on Continuous Difference-in-differences Method
As one of the six elements of accounting, income is an important factor affecting the decision-making of stakeholders, and the implementation effect of the “new income standards” has become the focus of scholars’ attention. This paper empirically tests the relationship between the “new income standards” and the quality of accounting information by taking the listed companies in Shanghai and Shenzhen A-shares in 2012-2022 as samples. The results show that the “new income standards” can significantly and positively affect the quality of accounting information of enterprises. At the same time, the degree of corporate financing constraints plays a regulatory role between the “new income standards” and the quality of accounting information. In the samples with different property rights and whether they are high-tech enterprises, the “new income standards” have different effects on the quality of accounting information. In this paper, the “new income standards” and the quality of accounting information are brought into the same analytical framework, which expands the existing research and puts forward corresponding suggestions and prospects.
