Evaluating magnetic degradation in FeCo-V alloys for high-output and compact electric motors: A multiscale-multiphysics approach
• The multiscale-multiphysics approach can clarify FeCo-V alloys under pre-strains. • The nano-micro scale calculations represent the millimeter-scale values. • The approach validates the magnetic properties of the soft magnet. We evaluate magnetic degradation in FeCo-V alloys using a multiscale-multiphysics approach, crucial for high-output and compact electric motors. The approach integrates computational scales with diverse phenomena using micromagnetic simulations with elastic stiffness analysis. Here, it validates the magnetic flux density-magnetic field (B-H) curve of FeCo-V alloy, the commercially available soft magnet, Vacoflux48, and shows the magnetic flux density-magnetostriction (B-ε) curve by applying pre-strains upon the magnetic field. Our results reveal that both compressive and tensile pre-strains lead to a decrease in magnetic flux density and an increase in magnetostriction, suggesting potential implications for the performance of FeCo-V alloys in the electric motors.
