MEMÓRIAS DE TREINADORAS NO ESPORTE PARAOLÍMPICO DE ALTO RENDIMENTO NO BRASIL

This investigation aimed to verify how Brazilian women coaches were inserted into high-performance Paralympic sports in Brazil. Based on the premises of Cultural History and Sports History, we applied the principles of Oral History, producing oral sources through the technique of semi-structured interviews. The participants were women who worked or still work as coaches of Paralympic athletes in the high-performance field. The testimonies allowed the understanding of their trajectories, highlighting them as historical subjects. The incentives for women to approach the coaching career were diverse: university internships, previous life as an athlete, family influence, and being a woman with a disability. Thus, it is important to highlight the need to enhance the contact spots of society as a whole and, in particular, of Physical Education students with Paralympic sports in order to expand the range of academic and professional fields. The testimonies allowed the understanding of their trajectories, highlighting them as historical subjects. The incentives for women to approach the coaching career were diverse: university internships, previous life as an athlete, family influence, and being a woman with a disability.
