Emergency Medicine; Challenging Clinical Condescension andRecognising Its Underrated Epitome ofAcute And Timely Diagnosis.
The branch of emergency medicine is a vastly growing field in many countries with countries who have begun to recognise the impetus of a fully functioning emergency room. Most countries, however, continue to use the world “casualty” while in India there is a steady, however not significant enough recognition, for the very branch of emergency medicine which provides prompt diagnosis and disposition. The condescension also stems from other branches as in my own personal experience even around pre-pandemic eras, the word “casualty” is widely used and not the Emergency room.
