A framework for streamlining digital supply chain integration through software interoperability analysis
This paper presents a framework for enhancing digital supply chain integration through software interoperability analysis. It addresses the challenges of data sharing, particularly Product Manufacturing Information, between suppliers. A systematic approach is used for creating a vocabulary mapping software that links interoperability elements with Product Manufacturing Information (PMI) features, cross-referenced with ISO and ASME Standards. This enables an efficient assessment of the tool-based capabilities of each supplier, facilitating supply chain integration, and pre-emptively dealing with interoperability issues before they escalate. The framework is presented as a data model using the Connected Model-Based Enterprise Environment (C-MBEE) testbed as a use case. It focuses on the exchange of PMI features between large manufacturing companies and their suppliers. The data model, along with the vocabulary, assists in identifying existing vulnerabilities in the supply chain, and enhancing cybersecurity. Future work revolves around updating the vocabulary to align with the changing manufacturing software landscape.
