Improvement of Maritime Microgrid's Frequency Stability Using MPA Based FOPIDA Controller
This article addresses the important issue of Marine Microgrid (M-μG) frequency stability, which is challenged due to alternating AC power using power converters from renewable energy sources (RES) resulting reduction in system inertia. Providing consistent frequency contrast to RES uncertainty necessitates the design of sustainable robust control architecture. Therefore, this research work recommends a novel fractional-order PID accelerator with a low-pass filter compensator (FOPIDA) controller for the improvement of frequency stability of the M -μG system. The newly evolved marine predator algorithm (MPA) has been introduced to optimize the controller parameters. The MPA-tuned FOPIDA performance is systematically contrasted against FOPID, PID controller and popular optimization techniques such as sine-cosine, whale and particle-swarm optimizing tools to measure the effectiveness of the proposed approach. The research outcomes exhibit that the suggested approach outperformed in establishing the improved M-μG'S system frequency stability against popular approaches. Moreover, the robustness of the suggested approach has been examined during various M-μG'S real-time operating disturbances such as vague loading conditions, stochastic RES's power fluctuations, converter dynamics and influence of energy storage devices (ESD) to establish synthetic inertia for the rapid frequency stability.
