Application of UPQC in Enhancing Power Quality of Microgrid Linked to PV, Wind & Battery with ANN MPPT
This research paper investigates the enhancement of power quality in a microgrid interconnected with PV Module, wind turbines, and battery storage, utilizing an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) based Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) system integrated with Unified Power Quality Conditioner (UPQC) technology. The research work includes different type of power quality issues like harmonics, voltage sag, voltage swell and by incorporating UPQC, the power quality issues have been mitigated. The study begins by modelling the microgrid system, including PV arrays, wind turbines, ESS, converters, and loads. The ANN-based MPPT system is implemented to optimize power extraction from the PV module and Wind Turbine, considering varying environmental conditions and load demands. The model has been developed through MATLAB SIMULINK. The results demonstrate significant improvements in power quality metrics such as reduced THD levels, improved voltage regulation during transient conditions, and enhanced power factor correction. The integration of ANN-based MPPT with UPQC shows promising results in enhancing the overall performance and stability of the microgrid system, ensuring reliable and high-quality power supply to critical loads.
