Performance Analysis of Relays used in Next-Generation Wireless Communication Networks using the Hata Model
Relaying is one of the most recent advancements in communication technology developed for wireless networks to provide coverage extension and data rates, particularly for celledge users. Relay based communication has been extensively investigated not only to expand the coverage, improve the diversity, and increase the data rate but also to reduce the energy consumption of wireless communication systems. The Hata model is a broadly used propagation model for predicting path loss in urban areas. The purpose of this study is to examine the pre-existent relay strategies and indicate the benefits of Relay implementation using the Hata path loss model. The mitigation of required signal power for a basic relay is demonstrated compared with the traditional direct transmission method using MATLAB simulation.
