Optimal Integration and Management of Solar Generation & Battery Storage System in Unbalanced Distribution Network
Uneven load distribution in three-phase power networks affects power distribution. This causes voltage and frequency variations, power output and consumption imbalances, and component strain, which reduces the system's efficiency. Adding intermittent photovoltaic (PV) generation makes issues more complex. This paper proposed the allocation of a PV-battery energy storage system (BESS) in an unbalanced radial distribution system (URDS). A multi-objective problem is constructed to minimize technical, economic, and environmental objectives to get optimal PV-BESS unit allocation, power factor (pf), and phase of integration. Meticulously evaluating all three planning aspects helps plan PV modules, BESS units, and URDS energy management strategy (EMS). The novel multi-objective Marine Predators Optimization (MOMPO) algorithm is used to minimize objective functions and find optimal decision variables under system restrictions. The proposed technique is validated on an IEEE 33 bus URDS, and extensive study shows that the MOMPO's competent solutions enhance URDS's technical, economic, and environmental benefits with PV and BESS.
