Frequency Regulation of a Power System with Fuzzy Logic Controller Including RFB
Frequency regulation becomes a prime objective for the power system personnel because with increase in complexity the frequency is more sensitive towards a little variation in load power. In this work, wind generating unit is integrated with conventional power system as renewable energy sources. Due to lack of inertia of RES units, it becomes a difficult task to maintain frequency stability of the system. Hence, the situation demands for an efficient secondary controller to obtain the desired frequency regulation. Here, fuzzy-logic based controller with filter is designed for the dynamic stability of a two-area hydro-thermal-wind power system. Its result is compared with result of PID controller. For the proper selection of controller gains, Wild goat Algorithm (WGA) Optimiszation Technique is used. Again, Redox flow battery (R-F-B) is added as battery energy storage system to improve the stability of the system under consideration.
