An Efficient Ultra-Wideband Cross-Polarization Converter Based on Electromagnetic Metasurfaces
This paper investigates an ultra-wideband polarization converter based on an electromagnetic metasurface and delves into its polarization conversion mechanism. By leveraging the unique design flexibility of electromagnetic metasurfaces, we have developed a structure capable of achieving efficient polarization conversion within the 7.3-22.1 GHz range, covering the C, X, Ku, and K bands. This electromagnetic metasurface can control the polarization state of electromagnetic waves, redirecting horizontally or vertically incident waves into the perpendicular direction to achieve cross-linear polarization conversion. Through theoretical analysis and numerical simulations, we have thoroughly examined the polarization conversion characteristics of this structure across different frequency bands. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed polarization converter exhibits excellent performance across a wide bandwidth, maintaining high polarization conversion efficiency under various incident angles. The methods and findings presented in this paper not only offer new insights into the design of polarization converters but also provide theoretical guidance for ultra-wideband polarization control in practical applications.
