Development of Optical Microneedle Lens Array to Deliver Light Efficiently for Photodynamic Therapy to Treat Basal Cell Carcinoma

Here, optical microneedle-lens-array for the photodynamic therapy of skin cancer were developed. Computer simulations have demonstrated improved light transmission in the skin. Finally, the microneedles were successfully coated with a specific quantity of the photosensitizer.

Abstract

Here, optical microneedle-lens-array for the photodynamic therapy of skin cancer were developed. Computer simulations have demonstrated improved light transmission in the skin. Finally, the microneedles were successfully coated with a specific quantity of the photosensitizer.
