Выставка "Колыма в потоке времени" как отражение истории Магаданской области в экспозиции краеведческого музея

On March 30, 2024, the Magadan Oblast Museum turned 90 years old. This anniversary added the 70th anniversary of Magadan Oblast celebrated on December 3, 2023. As the only institution preserving the region's material history in various forms, the museum arranges exhibitions, presentations, and excursions to popularize Kolyma's past and to create visitors interest in its exhibitions and collections. The "Kolyma in the Timestream" exhibition most comprehensively reflects the Magadan Oblast history. It presents exhibits from the time of Dalstroy and the beginning of industrial development of the area; its work during the Great Patriotic War and its residents who joined the Army to fight Nazis; the awarding of Dalstroy with the Order of the Red Banner of Labor as an important milestone in its history. The post-war period was marked by the further development of the mining industry, which has been the base for the present-day local economy, as well as of the fishing industry, power industry, and science. Reindeer husbandry, as a traditional type of economy for the indigenous peoples of the North, is presented separately.
