DCC measurement results XML code through a spreadsheet

The use of spreadsheets has become necessary in calibration laboratories. Metrologists obtain data, process and analyse the results in spreadsheets and finally generate a calibration certificate within the same spreadsheet or in a word processor. Within the MS Excel spreadsheet software, there are tools to read and generate code in eXtensible Markup Language (XML) [1] which is the basis for the generation of the new Digital Calibration Certificate (DCC) [3]. In the same mode, it is also possible to import XML Schema Definition (XSD) [3] documents into the workbook to create an XML map. Here we use a subschema created from the XSD proposed by PTB to define and describe the DCC, which does not lose the original generality but can be used to export the measurement results to the XML file required for the DCC. This approach significantly reduces the time required to generate XML measurement results for most calibration services and facilitates the task without the need to code in any programming language.
