Synthesis and Mathematical Modeling of a Compo- site Heat Source Model Related to the Mig/Mag Welding Process with Torch Oscillations

The paper presents the synthesis and mathematical modeling in the Mathcad environment of a composite heat source model simulating an arc heat source during electric arc surfacing with transverse oscillations of the torch. The model is a superposition of three double-elliptical Goldak heat source models. The distinctive feature of this model is that the output function is implemented using logical operators, which makes it possible to implement a functional trans-formation similar to the symmetric difference operation in set theory. This ensures the exclu-sion of areas overlapped by adjacent heat sources from the total heat flow. The modeling was performed for three cases of transverse oscillations of the torch: sinusoidal, triangular and rec-tangular. The modeling results can be useful for specialists in the field of finite element model-ing of electric arc surfacing processes, as well as in the development of WAAM technology.
