Examination of Studies on the Levels of Anxiety and Depression of Children with Special Learning Disabilities and Their Parents
This study aims to compile the literature examining the anxiety and depression levels of children diagnosed with learning disabilities and their parents. The focus is on the psychosocial difficulties and emotional burdens that parents experience when they have a child with special needs. It is emphasized that changes in the family structure of children with special needs can negatively affect the happiness of parents, and as a result, negative emotions such as anxiety, sadness and depression can emerge.Learning disabilities are characterized by difficulties encountered in areas such as reading, writing and mathematics in children with normal general intelligence levels. This situation negatively affects the social and academic lives of children and threatens their personality development. The fact that parents are not sufficiently informed about their children's learning disabilities increases their anxiety levels and leads to deepening psychological problems. It is stated in the literature that children with learning disabilities have higher anxiety and depression levels than their peers. In this context, increasing parents' awareness can help them overcome the difficulties they and their children face.
