Bio-She®: An In Vitro Study on the Antioxidant Potential of a Polyherbal Formulation

Oxidative stress occurs when there is an imbalance between reactive oxygen species (ROS) and the body's antioxidant defenses, contributing to various degenerative diseases. This study investigated the antioxidant properties of Bio-She®, a polyherbal extract. The antioxidant activities were evaluated using the DPPH Free Radical Scavenging Assay (DPPHRSA), Ferric Reducing Antioxidant Power (FRAP) Assay, Nitric Oxide Radical Scavenging Assay (NORSA), and Hydroxyl Radical Scavenging Assay (HRSA).In the DPPHRSA, Bio-She® exhibited an IC50 of 60 µg/mL, while ascorbic acid showed an IC50 of 11.4 µg/mL. In the FRAP assay, Bio-She® displayed a reducing power of 0.54 ± 0.0003 at 100 µg/mL, compared to ascorbic acid, which exhibited a reducing power of 1.118 ± 0.0011. The NORSA revealed a scavenging activity of 57.04 ± 0.71%, with an IC50 of 65.8 µg/mL. Furthermore, the HRSA demonstrated a scavenging activity of 42.18 ± 0.31% at 100 µg/mL, with an IC50 of 127.7 µg/mL.These findings indicate that Bio-She® possesses significant antioxidant activity, attributed to its rich phytochemical content, including flavonoids and polyphenols. This polyherbal extract may offer protective effects against oxidative stress-related disorders, highlighting its potential as a natural therapeutic agent. Further studies are warranted to elucidate the mechanisms behind its antioxidant properties and explore its applications in preventive and therapeutic medicine.
