Library as a System

Recently, the 9th edition of the fundamental work of our American colleagues ‘Library Programmes and Services’ was published. For more than 40 years (the first edition was published in 1972), this book has been used by students of library schools, and for professionals, not only in the United States, it is a reference book for employees of both public and academic libraries. Is there any other national textbook that has been as popular and in demand in our profession for a long time? The new edition, authored by J. Edward Evans from Loyola University and Stacey Greenwell from the University of Kentucky (USA), has been revised and supplemented, in particular, with the concept of library social work. The book was prepared at a time when the world was gripped by the COVID-19 pandemic, which also changed people's lives and inevitably affected the work of libraries.
