Evaluation Of Water Quality Of River Beas With Reference To Physico-Chemical Parameters In The District Tarn Taran, State Punjab, India.
The present water quality monitoring study was conducted to evaluate the various physico-chemical parameters(pH, water temperature, free CO2, DO, transparency, TDS, total alkalinity, total hardness, specific conductance, silicates and phosphates) of river Beas from its two different stretches in Punjab, India. The water samples were collected in two sites from river Beas covering Goindwal Tarn Taran and Harike, River Beas stretches during the period of April 2020 to March 2021 at monthly interval. The critical water quality parameters pertaining to river health were found within the standard limits at both stations prescribed by CPCB, BIS, WHO, USEPA. Contamination of river water suggests certain control measures to protect the riverine ecosystem for the growth and development of fishes and for sustainable environment.
