The application of the absorbing Markov chain in analysing the movement of the students on the faculty of science-university of Tobruk

The research presented the application of the absorbing Markov chain as a method of stochastic process in analysis the movement of students of the faculty of science at the University of Tobruk between (2012/2013-2023/2024). The results showed that the annual average number of graduations is 94 and the annual graduation rate is 72% according to the enrolment of enrolment students this year. In addition, the average time of 67% freshman, 82% sophomore, 91% junior and 96%senior to stay at faculty science plus the current year until obtaining a bachelor's degree (graduation) is (three, two, one and a half and year) respectively. Furthermore, the average number of students who expect to obtain a bachelor's degree in the next four years is 577. Keywords: stochastic process, absorbing Markov chain, transition matrix.
