Numerical simulation study of impingement atomization of kerosene propellant

In order to analyse the mechanism of impinging atomization and improve the effect of kerosene propellant atomization, numerical simulation of two-nozzle impinging kerosene atomization is carried out by Discrete Particle Model (DPM) in the Eulerian-Lagrangian framework, which is used to build a two- nozzle impinging kerosene propellant atomization model and to study the effects of the initial impinging angle and the jet velocity on the atomization characteristics. The results show that: with the increase of the impact angle, the forward impact area of the two jets increases, resulting in more energy loss of the jet due to collision, and the droplet velocity decreases so that the conical atomization field devel-ops slower; the spreading range of the atomization field is related to the impact angle, when the initial impact angle is in-creased from 45° to 60°, the spray cone angle and the atomization range angle increase a respective 48.57% and 20.68%; The Sauter mean diameter (SMD) of the atomized droplet gradually decreases with an increase in the impinging jet velocity, under the same initial impinging angle.
