Integration of Text Understanding and Translation Techniques in English Language Teaching

Discourse understanding is the core link in language learning, which involves the overall grasp of the text, the perception of the context and the inference of the author's intention. This article discusses the practical application of the integration of text understanding and translation technology in English Language Teaching (ELT), aiming at revealing the positive influence of this integration trend on students' language application ability and cross-cultural communication ability. The analysis results show that the students who have accepted the integration practice have made remarkable progress in translation ability and discourse understanding ability. In addition, the paper also discusses the application of integration technology in English teachers' teaching, pointing out that this trend not only enriches teaching methods, but also improves teaching effect, providing more individualized teaching evaluation and feedback methods for English teachers. To sum up, the integration of text understanding and translation technology in ELT is a dynamic and potential field, which is expected to provide new ideas and practical reference for future ELT reform and innovation.
