The Differences between Mental Disorders and Character Flaws: A Sleep Perspective
In the discussion of differences between mental disorders and character flaws, the sleep factor is often downplayed. In behavioral analysis, sleep deprivation manifests behaviors and attitudes that are often misinterpreted as character flaws but are indicative of mental illness. Therefore, this paper uses sleep as a distinguishable variable to clarify the difference and boundary between mental disorders and character flaws. Further, through the comprehensive exploration of the physiological, behavioral, and cognitive mechanisms of sleep, the positive impact of sleep on mental health is emphasized. Moreover, it called the world's attention to the sleep crisis. Effectively addressing sleep issues early on can help prevent the escalation of mental health crises and reduce the vicious cycle of sleep disorders and psychological distress.
