An Overview of Research on Industrial Poetry Since the Founding of New China
This paper investigates industrial poetry since the establishment of New China, systematically reviewing and providing comprehensive commentary on relevant research literature. The author categorizes this literature into three distinct periods. The first period, from 1949 to 1976, saw a flourishing of industrial poetry; however, scholarly research in this genre was limited and characterized by a pronounced consciousness of class struggle that was politically charged. The second period, spanning from 1977 to 2011, marked a notable peak in the study of industrial poetry during which multidisciplinary theories began to be introduced to address the complexities inherent in this phenomenon. The third stage, from 2012 to the present day, has yielded an abundance of research findings and increasingly diverse directions that emphasize the interplay between historical context and individual experience as well as the relationship between reality and poetic creation centered around new industrial themes. Overall, studies on industrial poetry continue to face several challenges including a scarcity of research output, narrow perspectives, repetitive themes, and limited scope. It is anticipated that with China's forthcoming new industrial revolution there will be heightened attention and significant advancements in this field.
